Role Summary

The City of Eugene Aquatics Team is seeking a Recreation Program Supervisor. This key leadership position supervises daily operations of all Aquatics programs offered by the Recreation division, drives program development, implementation, and evaluation, oversees assigned staff, monitors budgets, coordinates facility maintenance, and acts as a liaison to the community. The supervisor works to advance the goals of the Aquatics Section, Recreation division, and City of Eugene.

Various locations throughout the City of Eugene as business requires, including Sheldon Pool (2443 Willakenzie Rd., Eugene, OR 97401), Echo Hollow Pool (1655 Echo Hollow Rd., Eugene, OR 97402), and Amazon Pool (2600 Hilyard St., Eugene, OR 97405). Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., with occasional weekends and evenings as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, organize, implement, supervise and evaluate a variety of program activities and services.
  • Plan, prioritize, coordinate, assign, supervise, and review the work of employees, volunteers, interns, and work study students.
  • Manage daily facility operations; assign staff schedules, approve time off requests, and oversee attendance and registration data.
  • Develop, review, and update program policies, procedures, and service standards.
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality, responsiveness, efficiency and effectiveness of assigned city recreation programs; collaborate with staff on continuous improvement, research new developments, and participate in community meetings and presentations.
  • Coordinate facility maintenance and assistance, including work order submissions, project coordination, capital improvement needs and serve as primary contact for security and closure issues.
  • Review rental agreements and community partner applications; assign staff to support contract administration.
  • Prepare and manage the general fund budget for the assigned facility, monitor attendance, prepare quarterly projections, and collaborate with peers and the Section Manager to balance the Section Budget.
  • Work with the Marketing team to promote services to the public and handle additional marketing or public information responsibilities.
  • Ensure patron safety, assign staff for equipment and vehicle inspections, and submit quarterly safety reports.
  • Maintain accurate records and generate expenditure reports; approve petty cash disbursements, purchases, and procurement card expenditures.
  • Collaborate with department members, city agencies, schools, and community groups to deliver balanced programs.
  • Serve as a community liaison, respond to public inquiries and concerns.
  • Attend and serve on city committees and task teams; participate in departmental meetings.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Three years of experience in implementing recreational, social, and cultural programs/services directly related to multigenerational and older adult or senior programs; one year of lead worker experience preferred.
  • Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in recreation, therapeutic recreation, human services, or a closely related field.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Valid Oregon driver’s license (or ability to obtain by hiring date); must pass driver’s record check and maintain acceptable driving record.
  • American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor Certification or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.
  • American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor Trainer Certification desirable.
