Confirm items being run on the line meet product requirements. Operate line at a pace of 4 panels per minute, Face and Back stations, Press and Putty items as indicated in D-365. Make Tickets according to the layup list provided. Ensure press settings are being used according to the POS’s posted. Perform all labor entries accurately and record pertinent process data.
Perform quality checks as needed and provide instant feedback to area lead. This position rotates and is responsible for knowing all operating facets of the line. Tag and separate all loads according to SOP’s and POS’s.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Print pertinent tags and inventory tags Basic knowledge of Microsoft D-365 as it pertains to your duties
Perform inventory transactions in D-365
Read and follow the visual schedule
Basic knowledge of how panels are constructed in layup
Knowledge of quality issues that affect work centers downstream
Know correct orientation of veneer when pairing or laying
Able to achieve 4 panels laid per minute for a shift per day Communicate effectively with forklift driver and other shift personnel
Operate, load and unload press.
Set pressure and heat cycle times.
Operate trim section of the line.
Measure glue spread and adjust as needed for product.
Quality checks on one-step core lines on every load Inspect and maintain press plates to std.
Clean Area around Press and Spreaders throughout shift as Safety Conscious at all times
General housekeeping duties within immediate area.
Must have the ability to operate a micrometer and complete required paperwork
Ability to read and understand the layup list
Must be trained and follow lockout / tagout procedures
Drive forklift daily at break times
Be able to match the grades & species of wood with the load tickets
Observe any defects in the panels and communicate them to a lead Communicate with lead on all glue related issues
Clean Presses as needed.
Inspect loads from spreader for quality defects
Observe and follow all safety rules and regulations.
Follow all lockout/tag out (LOTO), when required.
Read and understand putty color charts, proper document information on putty production reports and able to enter production information into MRP system and verify all customer notes.
Rotate in all putty positions and willing to learn other jobs in the SCP Area.
Must be TWI certified and complete JSA’s in the SCP areas.
Must know how to clean, maintain, and trouble shoot.
Meet production and quality standards for the Putty areas.
Participate in Kaizen, 5S events, Safety and/or Quality Spoke.
Must support the team in achieving all Safety, Production and Quality goals.
Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, you must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.
EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE:
Good hand/eye coordination.
Basic computer skills; working knowledge of a MRP system
Will need to be certified through the TWI certification program.
Use of micrometer
Experience with label making and computers.
Experience with moving sheets of veneer with speed and care LANGUAGE
SKILLS:
Good communication skills.
MATHEMATICAL
SKILLS:
Basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to understand and carry out detailed written and oral instructions PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to walk and stand over 2/3 of your shift.
Ability to use and reach with your hands and arms.
Ability to climb or balance over 1/3 of your shift.
Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl over 1/3 of your shift.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Use of personal protective equipment is always required. (Hearing protection and safety glasses)
General mill environment. High noise, dust, forklift and pedestrian traffic.
