Interim Director of Communications and Creative Services

Lane Community College, a comprehensive community college in beautiful Eugene, Oregon, has begun the search for the Interim Director of Communications and Creative Services. The Director of Communications supports institution-wide communications, public relations and storytelling efforts that elevate Lane Community College's mission, reputation, and enrollment goals. The position advances the college's strategic priorities through the creation of compelling, human-centered storytelling, strong media engagement, and integrated digital, print, and emerging media channels.

Reporting to the Senior Advisor for Strategic Communications, the Director manages positive narrative development, earned media strategy, brand storytelling, and large-scale content initiatives, through both direct content creation and coordination of outside vendors, staff and student interns/student workers. The Director supervises department communications staff, Printing and Graphics services, and student interns in the Design Media Center (DMC) mentoring students to ensure alignment between institutional priorities and applied learning experiences.

The Director also serves as a backup spokesperson/PIO in the absence of the Senior Advisor, and supports crisis and emergency communication planning and response.

Required

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Graphic Design or related field.

Required Experience:

Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in strategic communications, journalism, media relations, or public affairs. Demonstrated storytelling experience, including digital video, multimedia, or broadcast journalism. Supervisory experience in a communications, newsroom, or marketing environment. Experience in higher education or public-sector communications. Experience mentoring student interns or early-career professionals. Experience supporting crisis and emergency communications
