The Rethink Program Coordinator is a full-time, hourly position that supports the Executive Director in providing technical assistance to Lane County businesses seeking to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and conserve resources. The Coordinator represents BRING’s Rethink Business Program through business outreach, on-site consultations, waste assessments, and written reports and communications.

Compensation: $20-24 per hour, depending on experience.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conduct outreach to businesses via phone, email, and in-person visits to promote recycling and sustainability initiatives, including programs associated with the Recycling Modernization Act, Love Food Not Waste, and Swift Comply for the City of Eugene’s Fats, Oils, and Grease program.
  • Schedule and perform on-site assessments and consultations for a wide range of businesses in Lane County, including professional services, restaurants, retail, hospitality, manufacturing, landscaping, and automotive repair.
  • Assist with maintaining and updating the program database, including Green Biz Tracker .
  • Provide guidance, referrals, and written recommendations to businesses on waste prevention, reuse and recycling, energy and water conservation, wastewater management, pollution prevention, biodiversity, transportation, and community engagement.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential program and client records.
  • Assist with preparing quarterly and grant-related reports.
  • Collaborate with local governments, nonprofits, and community partners to promote sustainability and conservation initiatives.
  • Support program communications through articles, press releases, outreach materials, and presentations.
  • Coordinate and conduct waste assessments and related consulting services for participating businesses and partner organizations.
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE
  • Familiarity with BRING’s work, including our reuse store, consulting services, education and community programs.
  • Knowledge of or experience with sustainability practices, behavior change strategies, or community outreach.
  • Understanding of Oregon DEQ’s 2050 Vision and how it pertains to BRING’s mission.
  • Familiarity with the materials that can be recycled in Lane County, including preparation and sorting requirements.
  • Understanding of the importance of waste prevention, reuse and recycling, including energy savings, resource conservation, and pollution reduction.
  • Proficiency with Windows-based computer systems, including word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations.
DESIRED ABILITIES
  • Interest in recycling, waste reduction, and sustainability policy and practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to perform moderate physical activity for extended periods, including lifting up to 35 pounds, bending, stooping, and walking up to two miles.
  • Demonstrated passion for environmental sustainability and resource conservation.

  • High School Diploma. BS/BA Preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.
