Kids FIRST is seeking a strategic, relationship-centered Development Director to lead our fundraising, communications, and community engagement efforts. This is an exciting opportunity for a strategic thinker and skilled fundraiser who is equally comfortable building a long-term development plan, sitting down with a donor, crafting a compelling message, and bringing a successful fundraising event to life.

Kids FIRST is an Accredited Children's Advocacy Center that has served Lane County since 1994. Our multidisciplinary team provides coordinated, compassionate services to children and families affected by abuse and crime. Grounded in integrity, growth, and resilience, Kids FIRST has been consistently recognized as one of Oregon's 100 Best Nonprofits to Work For.

Working closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, leadership team, and community partners, the Development Director will:

  • Create and lead fundraising strategies, budgets, revenue forecasts, and goals.
  • Grow annual giving, major gifts, grants, sponsor ships, planned giving, and corporate and foundation partnerships.
  • Cultivate, solicit, and steward donors through authentic, long-term relationships.
  • Lead fundraising events from initial vision through execution and evaluation.
  • Guide donor communications, marketing, storytelling, social media, and public relations.
  • Represent Kids FIRST at donor meetings, community events, networking opportunities, and speaking engagements.
  • Lead and support development staff, volunteers, interns, and consultants.
Qualifications

Our ideal candidate brings at least two years of professional fundraising experience and a record of building donor relationships, making compelling solicitations, and securing gifts. They are an engaging communicator and confident relationship-builder with strong strategic planning, project management, budgeting, and organizational skills. A bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is required. Bilingual English/Spanish skills are preferred.

Benefits

Kids FIRST offers 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and their families; a 3% retirement match; 13 paid holidays; generous PTO and separate sick leave;
Summer Fridays; a weekly self-care hour; $1,200 Mental Health HRA;
Fire Med membership; and a sabbatical opportunity after five years.

Some local travel and occasional evening or weekend availability are required.

This position requires the successful completion of a criminal history and child welfare background check prior to the start date.
