Northwest Youth Corps - Forestry Technician

Overview

Northwest Youth Corps - Forestry Technician, Idaho Panhandle National Forest, Bonners Ferry Ranger District is recruiting 2-4, 680 Hour Forestry Technician (Trails and Recreation) Ameri Corps Members beginning May/June through August/September 2026. Incumbent will primarily maintain trails and recreation facilities on the district. This placement will typically work four ten-hour days per week Mondays through Thursday.

• Duties will include serving with FS employees maintaining, constructing, and clearing trails (33%)
• Maintaining campgrounds and recreational sites (33%)
• Cleaning and maintaining tools and equipment (33%)
• This requires hiking/ working outdoors with a crew of 20 people, small groups of 2-4, and/ or independently.
• Projects will include trail construction, trail maintenance using chainsaws and hand tools, recreation facility improvements, forestry related tasks, constructing bridges and boardwalks, and other carpentry projects.
• There will also be one or two week-long backcountry trail work camps that will require tent camping and backpacking gear (provided by FS if needed).
