The Zebrafish International Resource Center (ZIRC), located at the University of Oregon in Eugene, serves as a central repository for wild-type, mutant, and transgenic zebrafish strains (Danio rerio). ZIRC offers a range of services, including veterinary health support for zebrafish facilities and resources for biomedical research. The center is dedicated to developing standards for maintaining healthy zebrafish strains and provides online resources such as the "Diseases of Zebrafish in Research Facilities" manual.

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site position for a Postdoctoral Research Associate based in Eugene, OR. The individual in this role will lead and collaborate on research projects involving zebrafish, focusing on areas such as genetics, disease modeling, and health management. Responsibilities include designing and executing experiments, analyzing data, publishing findings, and contributing to grant writing. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will also participate in outreach activities and engage with the research community to support ZIRC’s mission.

Qualifications
  • Strong background in zebrafish research, with experience in cryopreservation, biobanking, in vitro fertilization, husbandry, genetics, cell- or molecular biology.
  • Proficiency in experimental design, data analysis, and scientific writing.
  • Experience in collaborative research and effective communication with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge in animal model health management and veterinary protocols will be an advantage.
  • A Ph.D. in molecular biology, genetics, zoology, or a closely related field is required.
  • Familiarity with grant writing and peer-reviewed publication process is highly desirable.
  • Commitment to supporting the broader research community, travel, and contributing to educational initiatives.
