Job Title: Cook

Location:

2625 Lone Oak Way

Schedule: Full-Time, Saturday through Tuesday from 7:00 a.m.

-5:30 p.m., with a 30-minute lunch

Salary: $16.50- $22.91 per hour (DOE) + Campus Differential

Bonus: $1,000 Sign-On Bonus, if applicable

Gateway Adult Residential Care operates multiple 24/7 residential care facilities dedicated to providing compassionate care to adults struggling with mental health issues, including Dementia, Alzheimer's, brain injuries, challenging behaviors, and aging-related needs. Position Summary

Are you passionate about creating nutritious and enjoyable meals for others? As a Cook at Gateway Adult Residential Care, you will play a vital role in meeting the diverse dietary needs of our residents. You will prepare meals according to established procedures, accommodate special dietary requirements, and ensure the kitchen and dining areas meet health and safety standards. This position requires professionalism, flexibility, and a commitment to excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Meal Preparation:
    • Prepare meals following procedures, menus, and recipes.
    • Accommodate special dietary requirements and individual preferences of residents.
    • Complete meal preparation for the following day's meals.
    • Ensure houses are stocked with daily food necessities.
  • Maintain accurate daily paperwork and submit it promptly.
  • Organize and clean the refrigerator, kitchen cabinets, and food carts daily.
  • Conduct basic food hygiene training for all care staff involved in food handling and delivery.
  • Implement proper dating procedures for stored foods.
  • Ensure cleanliness, functionality, and safe storage of all kitchen equipment.
  • Health and Safety:
    • Uphold statutory health and safety standards in the kitchen and dining areas, including monitoring meal temperatures.
    • Adhere to recycling procedures.
    • Monitor meal charts and communication logs for any updates.
    • Report medical concerns or observations.
  • Administrative Duties:
    • Adhere to established policies and procedures.
    • Participate in required training sessions and performance improvement efforts.
    • Attend department meetings.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Preferred

Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience or education in caregiving, cooking, or related fields.
  • Experience in an adult residential care facility or a facility serving individuals with dementia/Alzheimer's and/or mental health diagnoses.
Required Qualifications
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug test.
  • Obtain and maintain current First Aid and Food Handlers Card.
  • Fulfill annual training hour requirements.
