Hult Stage Lead Electrician

The City of Eugene has an opening for a Hult Stage Lead Electrician for Silva and Soreng Productions at the Hult Center for the Performing Arts. This role provides maintenance of theatrical lighting equipment, record-keeping, and operates lighting consoles for shows. It requires skill in specialty positions of electrics along with basic stagehand grip tasks for all departments.

All employees are assigned to the Stagehand class and are expected to perform Grip duties. Other assignments may be made based on production needs.

Responsibilities
  • Operates lighting console and networked electrical systems for performances.
  • Designs and maintains lighting rep plot.
  • Interpret and build a theatrical user's lighting plot.
  • Contributes to the theatre’s overall operations, safety, maintenance, and customer service.
  • Adheres to safety rules and procedures.
  • Maintains lighting and electrical equipment storage areas and keeps stage areas clean.
  • Maintains effective communication and cooperative working relationships with crew members, road show staff and management representatives.
  • Actively supports and respects diversity in the workplace.
  • Supports various departments performing work related to fabrication, maintenance, repair, placement, handling, setting, striking, dismantling, props, carpentry, electrical and fly systems.
  • Unloads and loads production trucks and arranges equipment preparatory to performances following work order specifications.
  • Depending on assignment, functions as ongoing lead worker over lower‑level classifications, road crew staff and temporary employees.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience

Two years of increasingly responsible related experience in stage trades, including one‑year full‑time experience in the area of assignment. Work experience in a professional performing arts venue comparable to the Hult Center is required.

Education

High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.

Background

Must pass a background check.

License

Valid Oregon driver’s license (or the ability to obtain by date of hire). Must pass driving records check and maintain a good driving record. Out‑of‑state license holders must obtain a valid Oregon license within 30 days of becoming domiciled.

Preferred Licenses and Certification
  • Possession of or ability to obtain and maintain a journey‑level stage electrician.
  • CPR Certification.
The ideal candidate will have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities (Electrical)
  • Must be computer literate, and able to work in both Mac and PC platforms.
  • Should have a good working knowledge of networked theatrical lighting patching, routing, and general configuration.
  • Preferable stage electrical and lighting knowledge. Certifications welcome.
  • Must be able to operate with competency on a range of 100

    Amp to 400

    Amp company switches, and multiple ETC systems.
