Sanipac, a Waste Connections company in Eugene, OR, is hiring a Union Diesel Mechanic Journeyman to perform preventative maintenance on our fleet of 125 garbage trucks.
Full‑Time Schedule4/10s
Schedule:
Tues‑Fri – 1:30 PM to 12:00 AM
Occasional Overtime Required. Overtime also available.
Competitive Compensation- Starting at $31.15‑$33.97 per hour DOE.
- $2.00 per hour additional for CDL holders or after obtaining CDL.

- Perform maintenance and repair on our fleet of 125 garbage trucks.
- Utilize vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes and initiate or assign repairs.
- Conduct safety checks on vehicles and equipment.
- Complete required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software to document parts usage and repair times.
- Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on driver vehicle inspection reports.
- Perform diagnostics and repairs on engine, aftertreatment, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems (12 V and CAN).
- Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
- Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
- Effectively communicate needed repairs or tasks.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- 3+ years experience in heavy truck equipment maintenance and repair.
- Provide personal tools.
- Class B CDL or ability to obtain one within 90 days of employment.
- Proficiency in vehicle and equipment diagnosis and repair.
- Ability to read and comprehend service and technical information in English.
- Extensive physical activity: heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects over 50 lb.
- Back, leg, arm, and shoulder strength required to climb in, on, and around vehicles.
- Ability to work in awkward, tight, or restricted spaces for extended periods; sit, bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, crawl, and get up and down from a supine position.
- Exposure to physical risks such as moving mechanical parts; requires following basic safety precautions.
- Exposure to outside weather, including wet and humid conditions, fumes, vibration; noise level usually moderate.
