Sanipac, a Waste Connections company in Eugene, OR, is hiring a Union Diesel Mechanic Journeyman to perform preventative maintenance on our fleet of 125 garbage trucks.

Tues‑Fri – 1:30 PM to 12:00 AM

Occasional Overtime Required. Overtime also available.

Responsibilities
  • Perform maintenance and repair on our fleet of 125 garbage trucks.
  • Utilize vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes and initiate or assign repairs.
  • Conduct safety checks on vehicles and equipment.
  • Complete required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software to document parts usage and repair times.
  • Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on driver vehicle inspection reports.
  • Perform diagnostics and repairs on engine, aftertreatment, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems (12 V and CAN).
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
  • Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Effectively communicate needed repairs or tasks.
Requirements
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • 3+ years experience in heavy truck equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Provide personal tools.
  • Class B CDL or ability to obtain one within 90 days of employment.
  • Proficiency in vehicle and equipment diagnosis and repair.
  • Ability to read and comprehend service and technical information in English.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
  • Extensive physical activity: heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects over 50 lb.
  • Back, leg, arm, and shoulder strength required to climb in, on, and around vehicles.
  • Ability to work in awkward, tight, or restricted spaces for extended periods; sit, bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, crawl, and get up and down from a supine position.
  • Exposure to physical risks such as moving mechanical parts; requires following basic safety precautions.
  • Exposure to outside weather, including wet and humid conditions, fumes, vibration; noise level usually moderate.
