The Mobile Diesel Technician Level II performs licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light and follow‑up repairs, and diagnostics for a wide range of truck equipment. The technician works in a mobile/field environment, performs advanced diagnostics under supervision, and continues to develop advanced mechanical skills.
Duties- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles.
- Make minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment such as electrical, braking, cooling, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering, engines, transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
- Diagnose and repair truck equipment using handheld computers, pressure gauges, and test instruments.
- Road‑test vehicles to validate repairs.
- Identify problems and evaluate alternative solutions using sound judgment.
- Manage parts inventory, perform periodic reconciliations, and obtain parts from approved vendors.
- Maintain and operate the company‑issued service vehicle, including safety checks and pre‑/post‑trip inspections.
- Work effectively with clients to assess needs and resolve issues.
- Prioritize tasks and manage own daily schedule.
- Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, and lift equipment.
- Document work on Repair Orders using the company iOS device and TRAIT application.
- Complete DOT and other required documentation promptly.
- Operate independently while complying with safety, health, environmental policies, OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
- High School Diploma or GED with at least 3 years of related experience. Candidates may substitute a higher degree or 5 years of experience.
- Must possess a set of hand tools required for the job.
- Obtain ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months of hire.
- Must pass a DOT‑regulated background screening and DOT physical (or provide a valid DOT medical card with >4 months remaining).
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a Driver Qualification File.
- Valid DOT medical card or DOT physical as required.

Hourly pay range: $26.73 – $40.10 per hour. The base rate may vary depending on location and candidate qualifications. Additional compensation such as commission or incentive may be available.
