Position SummaryThis position serves as a Campus Security Authority and, in a non-clinical role, is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the residence halls and students residing on campus. Duties include ambulatory rounds of University Housing, providing direct student support for mental and physical well‑being concerns, conflict mediation and de‑escalation, and enforcing policies found in the University Housing Contract and Community Standards.
The Coordinator collaborates with Residence Life staff and many campus partners, including the Dean of Students office, University Counseling Services, and the University of Oregon Police Department. The Coordinator reports to the Associate Director of Residence Life for Accountability and Residential Living and is expected to report to work during emergencies.
Essential PersonnelThe position requires an on‑call schedule, year‑round operation, and the ability to arrive at campus at scheduled times during inclement weather and/or university closures. Employees must provide reliable and current contact information at all times.
Minimum Requirements- High school diploma and at least 1 year of professional experience in insecurity, crisis response, or human services.
- Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice, Emergency Management, Psychology, or a related field.
- Ability to foster a socially just, multicultural, and inclusive learning environment.
- Knowledge of student development theory and its application in a residential environment.
- Establishment and maintenance of effective and collaborative working relationships with colleagues.
- Ability to assess and meet the needs of a wide variety of people while recognizing the needs of under‑represented and underserved students at the University of Oregon.
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, Conflict Resolution, or Emergency Management.
- 2+ years of experience in a higher education residential setting with a focus on student conduct or mental health response.
