Position Hours

This posting is for a full-time Shift 3 position. Shift 3 is assigned shifts between 9 pm and 8 am and/or on weekends with a minimum of 35 hours. A final schedule will be assigned by the position supervisor.

Position Supervision

This position reports to the Transitions Program Director.

Job Description

Support staff members work closely with Transition Program employees and participants to maintain a safe, clean and supportive environment.

Job Responsibilities
  • Monitor common areas and individual housing units to ensure the safety, security, and cleanliness of the facility.
  • Conduct participant chore checks and room cleanliness checks to ensure all assigned tasks have been thoroughly completed. Collaborate with case management when necessary to help participants maintain program compliance in this area.
  • Clean and prepare empty beds/rooms for incoming participants.
  • Clean common areas of the campus and submit work orders when necessary.
  • Tidy offices and empty waste/recycling receptacles nightly.
  • Monitor visitors to the program and ensure their visits are restricted to the appropriate hours/spaces and that their behavior is appropriate at all times.
  • Regularly walk the property, ensuring all exterior doors are locked. Log any activity that is out of the ordinary on the property or in the adjacent parking lot. Report any suspicious activity to the supervisor on duty or to authorities if needed.
  • Provide support services to program participants as assigned: regularly interact with each program participant in a professional manner, model appropriate boundaries, welcome new participants, review program guidelines, provide assistance and support, distribute mail, conduct urinalysis tests, assemble start‑up baskets, conduct food inventory, deliver food boxes, and log interactions accurately into the electronic record‑keeping system.
  • Ensure the safety and security of the Transitional Housing Program throughout the overnight shift when assigned: walk the property at least three times per night, conduct participant room checks at random, and monitor visitor behavior.
  • Collaborate with internal staff: attend staff meetings, participate in scheduled trainings, maintain regular communication with program supervisors and other staff regarding participant progress and facility operations, and serve as the “eyes and ears” for case management and administrative staff on day shift.
Requirements
  • High school equivalency.
  • Minimum of 1 year as Sponsors Support Staff (day shift) and be in good standing; or 3 years’ experience providing direct support services in a social services setting.
  • Candidates without Sponsors experience may substitute 1 year of direct support experience with certifications or higher education in addiction counseling, human services, or the mental health field.
Professional Competencies
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • May work nights/weekends and holidays depending on assigned shift.
  • Knowledge of general safety procedures.
  • Dependable and responsive to available on‑call hours.
  • Preferred experience in a social advocacy role.
  • Understanding of post‑incarceration reentry program support.
Work Environment
  • Shared common office desk or workstation and office equipment.
  • Multi‑building campus with participant housing and common areas.
  • Occasionally working in a refrigerated or freezer area to store and retrieve food items.
  • Shift assignment may require overnight facility oversight and participant interactions.
