Position: Job Coach (Eugene and Corvallis)

A Job Coach provides training, supervision and support to individuals who experience intellectual/developmental disabilities in employment-related activities which promotes an individual’s independence and success in the workplace, while focusing on integration and coordination.

Provide job training, supervision, and set up supports to Associates in employment-related activities ensuring quality standards and safety rules are always adhered to.

General

Position Responsibilities:

Provide job training, supervision, and set up supports to Associates in employment-related activities ensuring quality standards and safety rules are always adhered to.

Compensation

Hourly: $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 40 per week: 10 – 40 per week

Job Functions
  • Engage with businesses: Learn about their operations, take tours, and identify opportunities to employ individuals with diverse abilities.
  • Employer support: Provide education and technical assistance to prospective employers on the benefits of hiring workers with diverse abilities.
  • Worksite integration: Observe workplace culture and help individuals build social bonds with supervisors and coworkers.
  • Stay informed: Monitor labor market trends, including health and safety considerations.
  • On-the-job training: Learn job tasks at employment sites to demonstrate and assist individuals during initial training, providing onsite coaching and advocacy as needed.
  • Job preparation: Assist individuals in building key employment skills such as communication skills, confidence in navigating real life job situations, sustaining motivation, problem solving, and indepence through self-advocacy.
  • Documentation: Ensure all documentation is complete, timely, accurate, and adheres to professional standards, licensing regulations, and agency policies.
  • Safety and compliance: Protect individual rights and safety while following regulations and organizational practices.
  • Other duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Job Scope

A Job Coach provides training, supervision and support to individuals who experience intellectual/developmental disabilities in employment-related activities which promotes an individual’s independence and success in the workplace, while focusing on integration and coordination of supported employment services. Responsible for assisting Associates (supported employees) to be successfully employed in the community. Maintain strong working relationships with agency staff, stakeholders, supported individuals and community businesses.

Conditions

This position requires the person to work in an environment where there may be exposure to dirt, poor ventilation, building temperature fluctuations, odors, dust, noise, and outdoor weather. Other working conditions many include working alone; disagreeable contacts (i.e. aggressive/agitated individuals); and frequent interruptions. May be required to provide job support to Associates working in the community or attend meeting outside of regular shift.

Job Skill Requirements
  • Good interpersonal skills, decision making, judgment, supervisory, training, and communication skills.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Ability to observe others and accurately document those observations.
  • Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and proof of current vehicle insurance.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, talk, hear, see, bend, twist, carry 50 pounds and operate a vehicle.
  • Ability to take initiative and make decisions based upon company purpose, values and mission.
  • Enthusiastic, motivated “can-do positive attitude and work independently, as well as with a team.
  • Must pass criminal history check conducted by MHDDSD.
