Social Service Assistants – Regional Crisis Center Programs
Looking Glass is hiring Social Service Assistants to join our Regional Crisis Center Programs (East and West campuses). The RCC Social Service Assistant schedules, coordinates, and supervises group activities, maintains consistency and safety among clients, observes and records behavior patterns, aids in service planning, and documents necessary behaviors.
They help clients with skill‑building and provide guidance for daily housekeeping duties, chores, physical activity, recreation, hygiene, and school work. They complete crisis intervention and de‑escalate clients daily using the crisis intervention techniques learned during training. Working in a relief capacity, they provide varied monthly schedule coverage, requiring a minimum of 50 hours per month with shifts typically 8‑10 hours.
Responsibilities- Schedule, coordinate, and supervise group activities at the RCC program.
- Maintain consistency and safety among clients.
- Observe and record behavior patterns.
- Aid in service planning and document necessary behaviors.
- Assist clients with skill‑building and directions for daily tasks.
- Complete crisis intervention and de‑escalate clients using training.
- Provide varied floor coverage; maintain at least 50 hours per month.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in social science or related field, or equivalent experience. - Experience:
Previous work in a residential setting with at-risk youth; experience performing approved manual restraints when a client is a direct threat. - Availability:
Varies by shift and program needs. - Certifications:
Eligible for QMHA preferred; valid Oregon driver’s license; insurable under agency insurance. - Must pass crisis intervention training within first month.
The RCC (Regional Crisis Center) is a PRTS/subacute residential facility providing mental health treatment, family counseling, substance use treatment, and academic instruction to youth placed directly from the Department of Human Services. The RCC uses verbal de‑escalation tactics, seclusion rooms, and full‑body restraints when necessary.
