Position Summary

This role serves as a Campus Security Authority and ensures the safety and security of residence halls and students on campus. Responsibilities include conducting safety rounds, providing direct support for students’ mental and physical well‑being, conflict mediation and de‑escalation, and enforcing policies outlined in the University Housing Contract and Community Standards. The Coordinator collaborates with Residence Life staff and campus partners such as the Dean of Students office, University Counseling Services, and the Police Department.

Responsibilities
  • Enforce safety protocols and policies within residence halls.
  • Conduct ambulatory safety rounds and provide direct student support.
  • Mediates conflicts and de‑escalates potentially volatile situations.
  • Collaborate with campus partners to address student concerns.
  • Maintain availability during emergencies, including off‑campus on‑call duties.
  • Attend required trainings, team meetings, and supervision check‑ins.
Minimum Requirements
  • High School Diploma plus one year of professional experience in security, crisis response, or human services.
  • Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice, Emergency Management, Psychology, or a related field.

  • Ability to foster a socially just, multicultural, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Knowledge of student development theory and its application in residential settings.
  • Strong relationship building and collaboration with colleagues.
  • Capacity to meet the diverse needs of students, particularly underrepresented and underserved populations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Conflict Resolution, or Emergency Management.
  • At least two years of experience in a higher education residential setting focused on student conduct or mental health response.
