Forklift Operator

The Forklift Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating forklifts in a fast-paced, outdoor scrap-  environment. This role supports non-ferrous operations by assisting customers, loading and unloading materials, staging inventory, and responding quickly to radio requests from team members. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, adaptable, and comfortable multitasking in changing conditions.

Forklift Operator – Non-Ferrous Yard

The Forklift Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating forklifts in a fast-paced, outdoor scrap-  environment. This role supports non-ferrous operations by assisting customers, loading and unloading materials, staging inventory, and responding quickly to radio requests from team members. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, adaptable, and comfortable multitasking in changing conditions.

• Operate forklifts (primarily 8,000-lb capacity) safely on uneven outdoor terrain.
• Load and unload 53-foot van trailers accurately and securely.
• Assist customers by delivering boxes and helping unload non-ferrous materials.
• Respond promptly to radio communications and requests from yard staff.
• Support operations including sorting copper, stacking batteries, and staging materials.
• Perform general yard duties including sweeping, cleaning, and housekeeping.
• Maintain awareness of changing yard conditions and adjust priorities accordingly.
• Follow all safety procedures, company policies, and supervisor instructions.
• Provide polite, professional customer service at all times.

• Ability to safely operate a forklift in an outdoor, uneven-ground environment.
• Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure.

• Willingness to perform a wide variety of tasks beyond forklift operation.

• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and climbing on and off equipment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
