Under general supervision, the Concession/Athletic Coordinator oversees the daily operations of The Parks at Texas Star concession operations. This position will also be responsible for assisting in the planning and coordinating various athletic leagues during the year, as directed.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Oversees the daily operation of all concessions at The Parks at Texas Star, maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal health regulations.
- Supervises, hires, motivates, and trains all seasonal and part‑time staff members and ensures staff are properly trained on all equipment as well as on all city policies and procedures as it relates to the concession operations.
- Maintains inventory management, assists in ordering supplies as directed, checks all deliveries against invoices, and ensures all supplies are delivered as listed and ensures accurate end‑of‑month inventory completion.
- Supervises operations during operating hours and troubleshooting as needed, and makes sure staff maintain a neat and orderly work area.
- Oversees monthly safety training for team members, inspects and maintains all concession equipment, and keeps accurate and detailed reports on all equipment maintenance.
- Performs other related duties, tasks, and responsibilities as assigned to include assisting in the maintenance of general office functions and operations.
- Drives city vehicles, including vans and trucks.
- Operates sports field time clock, electrical panel box, electric score boards, sports equipment, concession equipment, radio and public address systems, cellular phones, copier, calculator, and PC.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
REQUIRED
- Knowledge of supervisory skills:
Personnel motivation, interviewing, hiring, oversight, evaluation, and discipline. - Ability to maintain routine records and prepare reports, and have excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to effectively work and communicate orally and in writing with co‑workers, the public, and City officials.
- Must possess great communication skills and be able to speak to the staff in a way that the message can be understood and comprehended easily, and have the ability to work as a team.
- Ability to utilize a computer to produce memos, reports, and operate Point‑of‑Sale (POS) systems.
- Must have the ability to work evenings and weekends due to the nature of particular operational hours.
Bachelor’s degree in Leisure studies, Physical Education, or related field preferred, plus two to three (2-3) years of progressively responsible experience in the athletic/concession field is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Certified Leisure Professional (CLP) certificate preferred but not required. Must have a valid Texas Driver’s license with a good driving record. Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must be able to work additional hours in the evenings and weekends due to the nature of particular programs. Must possess or have the ability to obtain Food Handlers Certification and Food Manager Certification within 6 months of date of hire.
Frequent sitting, walking, standing, bending, stooping, lifting, and reaching are required. Repetitive movement of the wrist and fingers during computer data input is required. Maintains static posture during sitting. 50-100% computer use. Occasional lifting loads up to 55 lbs.; carrying 55 lbs. up to 15 feet; pushing/pulling 75 lbs.; gripping/rotating hand tools up to 25 pounds; star/step climbing; working in outside temperatures, including excess heat, cold, and precipitation.
