Title: Student Ministry Associate

Reports to: Student Pastor

Classification: NA – Non‑Ministerial Associate or MA – Ministerial Associate (licensed/ordained)

Status: Full‑Time

Schedule: Sunday – Thursday

Principal Purpose & Function

The Student Ministry Associate plays a key role on the Cross City Church Student Ministry team by discipling students (grades 7–12) and supporting the ministry through strategic leadership and programming excellence. This position helps carry out the vision of the Student Pastor and the church's mission to lead students to follow Jesus and grow in their faith through meaningful relationships, engaging programs, and leadership development.

A large focus of the Student Ministry Associate’s role is to build impactful relationships and discipleship opportunities for all students within the ministry.

Student Discipleship & Leadership
  • Cultivate intentional relationships with students to foster spiritual growth and community
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of a discipleship strategy through Connection Groups, events, and midweek programming
  • Recruit, train, and support adult volunteers and student leaders
  • Actively participate in all weekly programming and student events
  • Provide prayer, support, and biblical guidance as needed
Program Support & Event Coordination
  • Plan and execute weekly programs (Sunday mornings, Wednesday nights, etc.) in collaboration with and under the guidance of the Student Pastor
  • Develop and distribute teaching curriculum and small group materials
  • Lead and coordinate camps, mission trips, retreats, and other special events as assigned
  • Promote events and ministry activities through church communications, social media, and other platforms
General Responsibilities & Team Support
  • Support the Student Pastor and Student Ministry through administrative functions such as scheduling, communications, volunteer coordination, logistics, etc.
  • Actively participate in Student Ministry team meetings and planning sessions
  • Collaborate with Student Ministry Assistant to maintain ministry records, contact databases, and registration systems
  • Supervise and lead assigned interns and volunteers
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Spiritual Requirements
  • Have and maintain a personal, growing relationship with Christ
  • Demonstrate a passion for God and personal consistent practice of spiritual disciplines
  • Confirm alignment with Cross City’s beliefs, as outlined in the Baptist Faith and Message (2000), and especially the 7 beliefs covering The Bible, The Trinity, Jesus Christ, The Holy Spirit, Man, Salvation, The Second Coming, and Marriage
  • Actively attend and participate at Cross City Church, or commit to begin doing so upon hire
Skills/Experience Requirements
  • Ability to demonstrate a heart for student ministry and a passion to see young people follow Christ
  • Excellent relational skills and natural ability to engage and communicate with teens, parents, and volunteers in meaningful ways
  • Strong leadership skills in recruiting, training, and supporting adult volunteers and student leaders
  • Collaborative and team‑driven mentality with ability to effectively contribute to ministry plans, goals, and activities
  • Outstanding organizational and administrative skills, including scheduling, logistics, volunteer coordination, event management/planning, and curriculum distribution
  • Confident in using ministry tools and systems such as church management software, databases, communication platforms, and Microsoft Office products
  • 1‑3 years’ experience in student ministry or a related field; professional capacity preferred but not required
