Job Overview
The Safety Manager is responsible for managing the safety department and supporting HR and Fleet. The Safety Manager supports the Houston, TX office and the corporate office in Euless, TX. The Safety Manager is responsible for all things related to safety, such as conducting safety site visits (to ensure jobs are operating safely), completing annual OSHA and other compliance reporting, managing investigations related to workplace accidents and injuries, conducting weekly safety meetings, creating and managing a safety program to incentivize the workforce to be safe Safety Manager will assist in helping Human Resources with onboarding and employee-related issues.
Responsibilities- Provide safety training to management and employees of the safety processes. Focusing on continuous improvement opportunities.
- Set priorities and goals with senior management team by providing regular performance reports and communicating strengths/opportunities for improvement.
- Provide safety education to achieve company-wide business and divisional goals.
- Conduct job site safety visits focusing on critical behaviors, compliance, and crew improvement opportunities.
- Investigate all work‑related injuries, property, and third‑party incidents to determine the cause(s) and develop “lesson learned” reports for use as future safety topic education.
- Responsible for reporting all incidents to the appropriate insurance personnel.
- Compile, analyze and interpret statistical loss trends to positively impact occupational illnesses and third‑party claims.
- Keep record of all safety meetings and communicate the information out to the employees.
- Manage relationships with insurance brokers and insurance companies. Own and manage coordination amongst the company, liability insurance companies, brokers and/or attorneys.
- Lead the Safety department and further enhance our safety culture and performance to become best in the industry.
- Oversight of claims reporting process, payment authorization and reconciliation of invoices.
- Submits annual reporting to OSHA.
- Establishes and implements procedures to ensure timely notification and proper reporting of claims and litigation against the company to appropriate internal stakeholders, insurers and third‑party administrators.
- Understands applicable insurance policies and advises in‑house counsel of significant developments on liability matters and insurance coverage issues that may impact company’s risk and exposure.
- Assist with employee onboarding on the employee’s first day.
- Assist with any employee inquiries on benefits, time clock issues and pay.
- Back up for Fleet Manager.
- Ability to speak English and Spanish (required).
- 5 – 10 years of progressive workplace safety experiences (primarily in construction or equivalent field).
- 3 – 5 years of Human Resources Experience primarily focused on employee relations (onboarding and offboarding employees).
- 3 – 5 years of investigations into workplace injuries and accidents.
- 3 – 5 years of experience understanding and implementing OSHA regulations in the workplace.
- OSHA certification 500 / 510 (highly desired).
- Experience leading employees to be aligned with company safety goals.
- Ability to stay organized in a fast‑paced environment.
- Experience with HRIS Arcoro and time management Exak Time (not required, but nice to have).
