Court Security

JOB SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, the courtroom security officer contacts the public upon their arrival to the courtroom. The courtroom security officer operates and maintains the courtroom metal detector to provide a safe and secure courtroom environment for citizens, defendants, and court staff by ensuring that everyone entering the courtroom complies with established policies and procedures.

• Interacts professionally and respectfully with the public, coworkers, and others.
• Provides court security for the safety and integrity of the Euless Municipal Court and Municipal court personnel, judges and defendants.
• Inspects/searches belongings as individuals enter the courtroom.
• Monitors person(s) entering and leaving the courtroom.
• Completes necessary paperwork.
• Performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisors.

• Knowledge of the operation of various screening equipment, i.e. metal detectors
• Ability to follow verbal and written directions.
• Ability to learn and follow safety procedures.
• Ability to work and communicate effectively with City employees and the public.
• Ability to perform physical labor including bending, stooping, and reaching.
• Ability to coordinate multiple assignments and tasks.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and files.

Must be at least 18 years of age. High school diploma or equivalent is required. Must have never been convicted, put on court-ordered community supervision, or probation for any criminal offense above a class B misdemeanor or been convicted, put on court-ordered community supervision, or probation for any class B misdemeanor within the last ten years from the date of the final court order.

Must have never been convicted, placed on deferred adjudication, or probation for any theft or assault family violence offense. Must be in compliance with drug use and tattoo policies of the Euless Police Department. Must possess a valid Texas driver's license and/or acquire a Texas Driver's License and have an acceptable driving record as defined by city policy.

Employee works in the building. Operates equipment such as metal detectors or metal detector wands. May routinely lift objects as part of regular duties. Lifting may sometimes require lifting above shoulder height. Weights range between 10 and 20 pounds occasionally.

Pre-employment screening includes, but is not limited to, Drug Screen, Physical Examination, Credit Check, Motor Vehicle Review, and applicable Background Checks.
