Engineering Planner

The Engineering Planner II is an experienced technician responsible for providing technical assistance to engineers or plant personnel for the design, planning, reporting, and documenting of projects. The role supervises construction and schedule coordination of field work, ensuring all work conforms to design specifications for continued plant high reliability and efficient performance.

• Coordinate, oversee, and expedite the construction and procedural field activities on plant maintenance improvement projects to ensure safety and quality while meeting the defined budget, schedule, and project objectives.
• Provide technical execution of defined activities to support the delivery of project initiatives required to achieve efficiency, effectiveness, and innovation objectives.
• Provide periodic reporting of projects utilizing project management scheduling programs, cost versus budget spreadsheets, and verify invoices for cost and project accounting codes.
• Prepare and provide technical assistance to engineers and plant personnel in the preparation of documents, data, drawings, and computer work associated with the preparation of technical specifications for procuring equipment and services on operations, maintenance, and construction projects.
• Provide technical assistance by researching data and drawings, developing cost estimates, performing calculations or executing programs for the development, analysis, and/or justification of internal and external projects.
• Organize data and detailed recordkeeping.
• Utilize engineering standards, procedures, and processes, providing recommendations for process improvements as necessary.
• Supervise and direct contractors as required to ensure quality field work and that work is performed safely and on schedule.
• Respond to plant schedules and engineers’ needs by adjusting workload priorities on multiple projects.
• Provide communication to manager and senior project staff to update on project activities and identify risks.
• Support senior project staff to provide technical project updates to director‑level management.
• Scope of work is clearly articulated and project‑based, may support multiple projects with minimal supervision.
• Work within defined budget, schedule, and project objectives.

• High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor of Science in a project/engineering related field preferred).
• 3‑5+ years of related experience.
• Business acumen pertaining to the utility industry.
• Strong knowledge of leading practices for the area of expertise.
• Strong planning and project‑management skills.
• Willingness and ability to learn new technologies on the job.
• Proficient at functioning effectively within a team environment, present ideas and opinions in a respectful and collegial manner.
• Microsoft Office and SAP skills required.
