As a Fiber Technician I, you will locate and repair fiber impairments, connect new fiber builds, and maintain the fiber network to ensure reliable service for residential and enterprise customers. You will work primarily independently in the field, utilizing your knowledge of fiber architectures, testing, splicing equipment, and WDM technologies. The role involves working in diverse environments, often in inclement weather, and requires physical activities such as standing for long periods, climbing poles, and using hand tools.
Qualifications include a high school diploma, industry-specific certifications, and at least 1 year of related experience. Technical skills in fiber systems and a valid driver’s license are necessary. Strong organizational, communication, and independent work skills are essential. Preferred qualifications include an associate degree in electronics and basic computer knowledge.
