Sr. Materials Testing Technician and Special Inspector

Position: Sr. Materials Testing Technician and Special Inspector, 3+ yrs exp required
What is SHN looking for?

The ideal person will have at least 3 years of relevant experience and several industry certifications. They will perform, record and report the results of laboratory and field construction materials tests for soils, aggregates, concrete and asphalt. They will have experience with specialized equipment and a high level of proficiency adhering to predetermined procedures to minimize variability in test results. This person will mentor less experienced lab staff and will be given opportunities to continue to advance on their own professional path.

Compensation & Benefits:

Wage range is approximately $25.00 - $35.00/hour, 40 hours/week anticipated

What are SHN's minimum qualifications?

High school diploma or GED
Three years of experience performing special inspections on at least one type of construction material (such as soils, masonry, concrete, structural steel
U.S. citizenship or authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving clearance

Certificates and Licenses:

Field Testing Technician Grade 1 (ACI)
Concrete Aggregate Testing Technician (ACI)
At least one ICC cert:
Reinforced Concrete;
Structural Masonry or Structural Steel/Welding
At least one additional certification, such as: ICC Structural Masonry, ICC Prestressed Concrete, ICC Certified Commercial Building Inspector, DSA Masonry Special Inspector, DSA Shotcrete Special Inspector

What additional knowledge and experience would make me a great candidate?

Understanding, knowledge, and certifications in inspection related to roadwork: compaction, gradation, asphalt paving, concrete, reinforcement methods, drainage structures, riprap placement, and subgrade stabilization
Understands contract plans and specifications
Knowledge of OSHA guidelines and safe work practices
Proficiency in a variety of construction inspection services
