Job Highlights

- Maintains purchase order listings; arranges pick‑up and delivery; maintains contact with suppliers and vendors.
- Maintains adequate supply of hand tools and safety supplies for road maintenance and construction.
- Warehouse inventory control and accuracy experience.
- Data entry experience with knowledge of state and local taxation.
- Ability to multitask with attention to detail.

Job DescriptionUnder general supervision, assigns, directs, and reviews work of a small staff; participates in ordering, receiving, storing, issuing, controlling and maintaining an adequate inventory of equipment parts, supplies, accessories, and related tools. Performs related work as assigned.
Distinguishing Characteristics- This class is a working‑lead level in the Parts Storekeeper series.
- Provides work direction, training, and review to a small staff.
- Distinguished from the Equipment Superintendent, which has supervisory responsibility for repair shops.
- Basic supervisory principles and practices.
- Parts, tools, and equipment used in maintenance and repair of vehicles and equipment.
- Basic research and data analysis techniques.
- Standard vehicle and equipment repair and maintenance procedures and terminology.
- Stock and inventory control, including requisitioning, receiving, storing, and issuing.
- Recordkeeping and filing systems.
- Operation of standard warehouse and storeroom equipment.
- Basic purchasing procedures.
- Basic shop arithmetic.
- Planning, assigning, directing, reviewing, and evaluating work of others.
- Training others in work procedures.
- Developing and implementing inventory control procedures.
- Exercise independent judgment and initiative within established guidelines.
- Preparing and maintaining accurate records and reports.
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
Must possess a valid California driver’s license.
Education and ExperienceTwo years of experience in ordering, storing, and issuing automotive and equipment parts and supplies.
