Job SummaryThe Registered Nurse (Infusion) provides specialized nursing care to patients receiving intravenous (IV) therapies, including infusions, injections, blood products, and biologic agents. The RN ensures safe administration of medications, monitors patients for adverse reactions, and delivers compassionate care in accordance with established clinical and safety standards. This role requires strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and patient education skills.
Key Responsibilities- Administer IV infusions, injections, and other parenteral therapies as prescribed by the provider.
- Monitor patients during and after infusions for side effects or adverse reactions, and respond promptly to emergencies.
- Assess venous access sites and perform venipuncture or access implanted ports using aseptic technique.
- Educate patients and families about infusion procedures, medications, and self-care following treatment.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all treatments and observations in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective care delivery.
- Prepare and handle medications and infusion equipment in compliance with infection control and safety protocols.
- Participate in quality improvement and continuing education activities to maintain clinical competency.
- Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred;
Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) accepted with relevant experience. - Minimum 2 years of recent nursing experience, preferably in infusion, oncology, or ambulatory care settings.
- Strong IV insertion and venous access skills required.
- Excellent communication and patient assessment skills.
- Previous experience in infusion therapy, oncology, ambulatory care, or home infusion services.
- Familiarity with infusion pumps, biologic therapies, and aseptic technique.
- Experience with Epic or other electronic health record systems.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred (based on patient population).
- Infusion Nursing Certification (CRNI) preferred.
