Travel position
:
Robinson Brothers Construction, LLC is seeking skilled Telecom/Underground Utilities Laborer to join our traveling crew. Our contracts span the Pacific Northwest and the West Coast, encompassing the western states. We are looking for talented individuals who are enthusiastic and ready to travel to various job sites. Travel is expected and required. This is a field position, and you will be responsible for working at various sites as necessary, including locations in multiple states.

What You'll Do

Telecommunication Construction Laborers support all phases of utility construction for various telecom projects. Duties include general labor related to telecommunications construction as directed by the Foreman/Supervisor. Services may include placing poles, anchors and guys, aerial strand and cable, direct buried pipe, trenching cable, conventional and directional boring, placing underground conduit systems, performing inside wiring, cabling, and testing and maintenance services.

Job Description Overview/Responsibilities:

  • Hand dig using shovel, mechanical tools.
  • Install and maintenance of underground telecommunications cabling.
  • Operate or work around heavy equipment and machinery.
  • Work in congested or remote areas.
  • Maintain visual and audible contact with other crew members and all moving or stationary persons/vehicles/objects to ensure safe coordination of movement.
  • Perform general construction work under direction of Foreman/Supervisor.
  • Maintain safe working habits/conditions according to regulations, procedures, and policies.
  • Learn all aspects of the crew and assist the operator and foreman as assigned.
  • Setup, preparation, and cleanup of construction sites.
  • Develop an understanding of buried utilities.
  • Lift heavy equipment and supplies.
  • Travel is required.

Position Qualifications

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and Motor Vehicle Report.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license or be eligible and willing to obtain the required license for the position.
  • Clean driving record (no more than 2 tickets in the last 5 years).
  • Basic knowledge of and ability to operate various types of utility trucks and equipment in a safe manner.
  • Basic knowledge of and ability to hand tools and equipment in a safe manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees, etc.
  • Willing and able to work in all weather conditions.
  • Eager to work and willing to travel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous construction experience, preferably in the telecommunications industry.
  • Class A CDL is a PLUS (Higher wage scales apply to CDL holders).
  • Able to perform all duties in telecommunications construction.
  • Travel is a must.

Working Conditions

This is a full-time hourly position, expected to work at least 40 hours per week. The role operates in an outdoor environment and is regularly exposed to various weather conditions, including extreme cold, rain, sleet, snow, humidity, high temperatures, and high winds. The work environment will vary throughout the day, including changes in terrain, traffic, urban, and rural settings. There may be occasional exposure to natural gas and the risk of electrical shock, as well as moderate to loud noise levels.

Physical Requirements

The employee must be able to stand for long periods (up to 12 hours at a time), tolerate extreme weather conditions, and follow worksite safety instructions.
