Position Title

Financial Aid Generalist

Reports To

Student Account Coordinator

Position Summary

The Financial Aid Generalist provides the day‑to‑day counseling activities and administrative financial aid updates for current and potential students at Eureka College. The objective of this position is to assist the Office of Financial Aid in its support of the institution’s efforts to attract and maintain qualified students through timely and effective distribution of financial aid awards.

Essential Functions
  • Provide counseling and effective communication to students and families concerning the financial aid programs provided through the Office of Financial Aid, including Federal Stafford Loans, Federal Pell Grants, FSEOG, Work‑Study, and state and institutional aid programs.
  • Adhere to federal and institutional guidelines and policies.
  • Assist with adherence to, and monitoring of, the College’s Financial Aid and Scholarship Budget.
  • Provide excellence in customer service.
  • Represent the College in a variety of recruitment and orientation activities, including Open House and outreach events, individual student visits, and new student orientation.
  • Process federal and state aid in the federal and state systems.
  • Prepare surveys for external constituents (IPEDS, CIC‑TEP, NCAA).
  • Process CIC‑TEP applications.
  • Process TEACH Grant, Golden Apple and Barton Scholarships.
  • Monitor Residence Life changes for differences in cost of attendance budgets.
  • Assist in the maintenance of the College catalog, website and Financial Aid Handbook.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist the Student Account Coordinator in all student financial matters.
  • Assist with and provide financial aid guidance for aspects of recruitment, admissions, enrollment, and retention.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education

Preferred:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited four‑year college or university.

Experience

Essential:
At least one year in Financial Aid, Student Services, or a related background required.

License/Certifications

None required.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution, and teamwork skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to multi‑task and prioritize workload.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and computer skills necessary to work with student information systems and various other programs.
  • Ability to maintain utmost confidentiality and follow ethical guidelines.
  • Ability to demonstrate patience and tolerance in interactions with diverse populations.
Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.
