Athletic Training Room Student Worker

Athletic Department– Eureka College

Overview

The Athletic Training Room Attendant works for the Eureka College Athletic Department, reporting to Laura Aroz. ATR Attendant will assist in the daily maintenance of the athletic training room, prepare supplies and materials for varsity practices and competition days, and communicate with student athletes in the athletic training room. The ideal candidate for this position is punctual, organized, responsible, can exercise judgement and is independently motivated to carry out all functions required for the position.

Job Description

The Athletic Training Room Student Worker will assist the Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) with athletes, game, and practice preparation. He/she is responsible for the cleaning and upkeep of the athletic training room as well as assisting athletes with basic needs under the guidance of the ATC. Due to the high level of liability in the athletic training room, the student worker must only perform duties assigned by the ATC.

The hours will be dependent upon the practices/competitions that week.

Qualifications

All applicants must be eligible to work as student workers at Eureka College. There are a variety of qualities that an ideal Athletic Training Student Worker must have: leadership skills; positive communication skills; the ability to have discuss and resolve conflict; willing to learn about exercises and athletic training room techniques; demonstrate professionalism and maintain confidentiality; flexibility; organizational skills necessary; integrity;

problem solving abilities; a sensitivity to diversity in all of its forms; positive work ethic; and be in good standing with the college. Students interested in Sports Medicine, Athletics, and CPR and First Aid experience preferred.

Position Responsibilities
  • Begin each shift on time and prepared to work; this includes appropriate uniform and attitude.
  • Perform all required shift tasks with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Maintain all required CPR/AED certifications.
  • Keep the athletic training room and equipment clean and stocked.
  • Assist with athletes’ games and practice preparations.
  • Attend sporting events as needed (travel as scheduled)
  • Stock and maintain taping tables and medical kits.
  • Assist with keeping inventory.
  • Keep the Hydroculator filled and keep record of the temperature.
  • Additional Duties as assigned.
Remuneration

This will be a paid job starting at $9.25. Hours will depend on student’s schedule and the schedule of events happening that week
