Business Education Teacher (Grades: 7-8)
QUALIFICATIONS:
● Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution
● Valid Alabama Professional Educator Certificate with an endorsement in Business
Education
JOB GOAL:
Conduct an instructional program that will enable students to explore career choices in
the field of Business and provide planned learning experiences, including hands-on experiences,
designed to equip students with job entry skills.
REPORTS TO:
Principal
SUPERVISES:
Students
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Utilizes a variety of teaching methods to meet the needs of the students.
● Develops instructional materials for the specific classes assigned.
● Collaborates and works as a team member with other faculty members.
● Coordinates a local program advisory committee.
● Maintains an active CTSO (FBLA).
● Assists all students in making informed decisions regarding occupational goals in
business.
● Instruct students in job-seeking skills and assist them in locating employment and
enrolling for further training.
● Work with guidance counselors in assisting students with career training and any special
needs that may need addressing.
● Maintains inventory records of purchased non-consumables as required.
● Must comply annually and pass TAPE Review.
● Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment,
materials, and facilities.
● Ensures safety in the program by regularly organized instruction in job safety and safety
practices related to the job tasks.
● Performs related duties as assigned, which may include faculty meetings, professional
development, parent-teacher conferences, etc.
● Creates a classroom/lab environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to
the maturity and interests of students.
● Give industry approved credential exams.
● Cooperates with post-secondary institutions in the articulation of curriculum.
● Develops and carries out an annual professional development plan as required by the
school system.
● Complete Technical updates according to State Department Career Technical standards.
● Contact parents regularly.
● Perform other related duties during school as assigned by the principal.
Nine-month position in accordance with the Board's salary schedule
