JOB GOAL

The Intervention Teacher provides targeted, evidence-based academic interventions to students identified through data as performing below grade-level expectations. The Intervention Teacher collaborates with classroom teachers, instructional leaders, special education personnel, English Learner staff, and administrators to improve student achievement through implementation of the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), Response to Instruction (RTI), and other state and district initiatives. The Intervention Teacher supports the academic success of all students while ensuring compliance with Alabama State Department of Education requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

The employee shall:

* Hold a valid Alabama Professional Educator Certificate appropriate for the grade level and/or subject area assigned.

* Meet all certification requirements established by the Alabama State Department of Education.

* Demonstrate knowledge of Alabama Course of Study Standards.

* Demonstrate knowledge of the Alabama Literacy Act, when applicable.

* Demonstrate knowledge of MTSS, RTI, intervention strategies, and progress monitoring.

* Possess strong instructional, organizational, communication, and data-analysis skills.

* Successfully complete all required criminal background clearances.

* Meet all local board requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Intervention Teacher shall:

Instruction

* Provide evidence-based Tier II and Tier III interventions to students identified through district screening and assessment data.

* Deliver instruction aligned to Alabama Course of Study Standards.

* Implement intervention programs with fidelity.

* Differentiate instruction to address individual student learning needs.

* Maintain a positive, engaging, and supportive learning environment.

* Utilize scientifically research-based instructional practices.

Student Assessment

* Administer diagnostic, benchmark, and progress monitoring assessments.

* Analyze student data to determine instructional needs.

* Monitor student progress using district-approved assessment tools.

* Maintain accurate intervention documentation.

* Recommend instructional adjustments based upon student performance.

MTSS/RTI Responsibilities

* Participate actively in MTSS/RTI meetings.

* Assist in identifying students needing additional instructional support.

* Develop and implement intervention plans.

* Collaborate with classroom teachers to ensure continuity between Tier I instruction and intervention services.

* Monitor intervention effectiveness and recommend movement between intervention tiers based on student data.

Collaboration

* Collaborate with classroom teachers regarding instructional strategies.

* Work closely with instructional coaches, administrators, counselors, special education teachers, and EL teachers.

* Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).

* Communicate student progress regularly with parents and guardians.

* Participate in parent conferences when requested.

Alabama Literacy Act (When Applicable)

For grades covered under the Alabama Literacy Act, the Intervention Teacher shall:

* Provide intensive reading interventions to students identified with reading deficiencies.

* Assist in developing Student Reading Improvement Plans (SRIPs), when assigned.

* Monitor progress toward grade-level reading proficiency.

* Support implementation of Alabama Literacy Act requirements.

* Maintain required documentation for student intervention services.

Professional Responsibilities

* Maintain confidentiality of student records.

* Attend faculty meetings, professional development, and required trainings.

* Participate in district and school improvement initiatives.

* Maintain accurate instructional records.

* Utilize district technology systems appropriately.

* Adhere to all Board policies and procedures.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The Intervention Teacher may also:

* Assist with after-school or summer intervention programs.

* Support state assessment preparation.

* Participate in school-wide data meetings.

* Assist with intervention scheduling.

* Perform other duties assigned by the Principal that are consistent with the position.
