Position: Adjunct Faculty, Welding (Ft. Lupton)

Aims Community College is seeking a dedicated welding faculty member to teach and support student learning in welding and cutting disciplines. The selected candidate will engage in instructional delivery, program and curriculum development, and support the college’s mission of innovation and care.

Job Description

The faculty member’s primary responsibility is to teach welding and cutting courses. In addition, the role includes scholarly and creative activities, service to the college, and participation in professional development.

Responsibilities
  • Provide instruction on a wide variety of welding and cutting processes in accordance with industry standards and department practices.
  • Supervise students to ensure the safe and proper use of facilities, equipment, and supplies.
  • Evaluate student work and assign grades.
  • Assist in the basic maintenance and repair of welding program equipment.
  • Participate in professional development and training activities to maintain instructional excellence.
  • Assist full‑time faculty with program and curriculum review, revision, development, and assessment of learning.
  • Utilize effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate continuous commitment to quality and craftsmanship.
  • Establish and maintain positive and professional relationships with students, faculty, staff, and administration.
  • Work as a team member with a genuine spirit of cooperation and flexibility.
  • Be self‑directed and self‑motivated.
  • Participate in advisory committee meetings and activities as required.
  • Assist in developing quality relationships with business, industry, and community members.
  • Implement department, division, and institutional goals as assigned.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to embrace and apply the college’s mission statement, purpose, vision, philosophy, and commitment to diversity.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Welding Department Chair or Academic Dean.
Teaching
  • Implement instructional delivery and effective communication of information.
  • Provide high-quality instruction of the subject being taught.
  • Apply learning‑centered educational practices and create clearly defined learning outcomes.
  • Provide diverse learning activities tied to those outcomes.
  • Use assessment data to improve instruction and participate in ongoing college‑wide dialogue about teaching and learning.
  • Develop and refine department curriculum to maintain current pedagogy and content.
Professional Obligations & Development
  • Implement department, division, and/or institutional goals as assigned.
  • Perform appropriate faculty advising duties.
  • Meet all assigned classes, submit grades, syllabi, and other required documents on time.
  • Manage classroom and lab facilities appropriately.
  • Keep accurate attendance and grade records.
  • Acquire and/or maintain certifications as necessary.
  • Create teaching methodologies and instructional designs from a learner‑centered perspective.
  • Complete coursework related to one’s teaching assignment.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Expertise in OAW, OFC, PAC, SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, soldering, brazing, thermal gouging, structural and pipe welding.
  • Demonstrated welding ability (weld tests) for qualifying candidates.
  • WEL 1000:
    Associate degree or higher, OR 2000 hours experience in an industrial safety program, OR current safety certification.
  • WEL 1001, 1003, 1010, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2024, 2030, 2031, 2050, 2089:
    Associate degree or higher AND 4000 hours verifiable industry occupational welding experience outside of teaching.
  • Demonstrable expertise in the required welding processes and positions; certifications (AWS, ASME, API, AWWA, etc.) or portfolio may be used.
  • WEL 1075, 1076, 1077, 2075, 2076, 2077:
    Special Topics in Welding – same experience and expertise requirements as above.
  • Welding licensure may be obtained within the first three years of hire if requirements are met at hire.
