Job Description

Aims Community College actively supports an environment that embraces the College’s Mission, Vision, Values and culture of innovation and care. The College seeks to hire individuals who want to contribute and possess the skills necessary to succeed in this role. This is a Full‑Time, Faculty, 9‑month Academic position – EMS Faculty for the Paramedic Program, beginning Fall Semester 2026. The teaching load may be heavier in the Fall and lighter in the Spring.

The faculty member will conduct assignments and co‑curricular activities in line with Aims’ philosophy and purpose. The primary purpose of the faculty member is to teach, while also engaging in professional development and service to the college.

Responsibilities

Provide effective, high‑quality instruction and assessment, continually refining curriculum to meet Aims’ standards. Teach primary lecture instruction for Paramedic Pharmacology, Cardiology, Medical Emergencies, and Trauma Emergencies courses, with associated lab courses. Collaborate on curriculum creation and oversight, support part‑time faculty, and keep the department chair informed. Maintain currency in the field, use technology to enhance student learning, and be available for student support through formal office hours, phone, chat, or other communication methods.

Be ready to teach at any campus or outreach site. Participate in college committees and support persistence and retention initiatives. Initiate and maintain professional relationships with external agencies, businesses, and other educational institutions. Demonstrate support for each individual's opportunity to succeed and apply the College’s mission and diversity commitments. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Program Director or Academic Dean.

Teaching

  • Interact with students to provide learning opportunities and create a conducive learning environment.
  • Deliver instruction clearly and promote learning through an effective environment.
  • Design, sequence, implement, and present learning experiences (both in‑person and online).
  • Develop and implement diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments.
  • Provide high‑quality instruction in the subject area.
  • Apply student‑centered educational practices, including clear outcomes and varied activities.
  • Use assessment data to improve instruction and engage in ongoing dialogue about teaching and learning.
  • Develop and refine department curriculum as necessary.
  • Adopt new teaching methodologies as appropriate.
  • Implement department, division, and institutional goals.
  • Maintain office hours, submit grades on time, and meet assigned classes.
  • Submit syllabi and other required documents on time.
  • Manage classroom facilities and keep accurate attendance and grade records.
  • Meet other professional obligations as stated in the Faculty Annual Plan and Evaluation.
Scholarly & Creative Activities & Service to the College
  • Engage in activities that support the discovery, dissemination, and application of knowledge.
  • Acquire and maintain relevant certifications.
  • Attend conferences, workshops, and training appropriate to the field.
