The Facilitator will be responsible for teaching basic skills to students with varying academic levels while integrating GED, college prep, and career readiness skills. The Facilitator helps students meet academic goals and prepare them to take and successfully pass the GED and other exams and prepare students for success in college/career readiness programs. The Facilitator administers and scores GED pretests and other standardized or internal exams.
Occasional travel may be required.
- Instruct students on material needed to earn a GED; provide GED information via phone, email, or in person.
- Help students prepare and study for the GED and other exams; assess readiness to take exams.
- Teach basic skills in math, science, English, and literature; tutor students individually.
- Integrate competencies, goals, and objectives into daily instruction and communicate them for all learning activities.
- Observe and evaluate student performance.
- Utilize various curriculum resources and public library resources.
- Administer pre‑test GED assessments and other assessments.
- Proctor examinations when necessary; ensure the integrity of all tests and their administration.
- Assist with administrative aspects of testing, including data collection, file management, answering phones, and making appointments for students needing accommodations.
- Comply with all jurisdictional policies and procedures as set forth within the testing guidelines.
- Manage student behavior according to Aims Community College Policies and Procedures.
- Work with the Adult Education Coordinator to ensure initiatives are met.
- Facilitate adult basic education workshops.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree plus one year of experience working in an instructional capacity or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Familiarity with transitional programming (employment/college/vocational training).
- Experience administering various types of tests, such as academic testing and/or placement testing.
- Capable of prioritizing multiple tasks or requests while handling numerous interruptions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and administrators.
- Experience with and technological proficiency in Windows‑based PCs, Microsoft Office, and other software products.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to work as a team member.
- Ability to handle confidential tasks and materials with discretion following FERPA guidelines.
- Able to work a flexible schedule to include evenings.
- Ability to work with students from differing ability levels and academic needs.
