Summary/Objective:
Provide an enriched atmosphere where students learn subject matter and/or skills that contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible members of society. Facilitate learning and guide students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional and psychological growth and maturation. Responsible to the building principal and department director where assigned.
- Support the academic programming and progress of individual students and/or small groups of students with identified significant needs.
- Provide student-specific personal care and support.
- Knowledge, skills and abilities sufficient to perform the responsibilities of the position.
- Prior experience working in a school setting or with children with special needs.
- Strong verbal communication skills, ability to move quickly in response to student needs, desire to work in a team setting, positive attitude.
- Upper body strength to lift and carry 50 lbs.
- Paraprofessional experience preferred.
- Bilingual skills preferred, but not required.
