Minimum Hiring Annual Salary: $51,856.00
Maximum Hiring Annual Salary: $72,250.00
Placement within the salary range above is based on a combination of education and work experience.

Job Description

Aims Community College actively supports an environment that embraces the College's Mission, Vision, Values, and a culture of innovation and care. This Full‑Time Automotive Faculty position, beginning Fall Semester, 2026, is located at the District Career Center in Severance High School. The faculty member will design and teach automotive and diesel repair courses, oversee program operations, and provide student advising and professional development.

The role requires on‑site presence five days a week, teaching across a range of schedules, and includes duties such as curriculum development, equipment and vehicle maintenance, assessment, and participation in college and community outreach activities.

Teaching & Professional Obligations
  • Interact with students to facilitate learning and use effective instructional methods.
  • Deliver clear communication of information in an effective learning environment.
  • Design, sequence, implement, and present learning experiences, including online, synchronous, and asynchronous modalities.
  • Collaborate in the development and implementation of assessments.
  • Provide high‑quality instruction and apply learning‑centered educational practices.
  • Use assessment data to improve instruction and participate in college‑wide teaching dialogues.
  • Maintain office hours, submit graded work on time, and manage classroom facilities.
  • Meet other professional obligations as outlined in the Faculty Annual Plan and Evaluation.
  • Complete any other duties as assigned.
Scholarly & Creative Activities
  • Engage in activities that contribute to the discovery, dissemination, and practical application of knowledge.
  • Maintain or acquire relevant certifications.
  • Attend conferences, workshops, and training appropriate to the field.
  • Complete coursework related to the teaching assignment.
  • Contribute to the college’s mission and strategic plan.
  • Provide competent advising to students pursuing associate degrees and certificates.
  • Fulfill college service requirements and participate in community service groups.
  • Serve on committees and participate in recruitment and retention activities.
  • Assist in program and curriculum review, revision, and assessment.
  • Maintain classroom and lab environments.
  • Embrace and apply the college’s mission, purpose, philosophy, and commitment to diversity.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate’s Degree in a related field such as Diesel Power Mechanics or the ability to obtain within 2½ years of employment.
  • Two (2) years (4,000 hours) of relevant industry experience, or
  • Current industry license/certification plus 6,000 hours (3 years) of relevant industry experience.
  • Full and current Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification in required disciplines.
  • Must obtain ASE G1 certification prior to the first day of classes.
  • Must obtain ASE L1 certification within the first year of employment.
  • Must pass an MVR and be insurable under Aims insurance.
  • Must have experience working with personal computers and automotive service industry equipment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and instruction technology.
  • Know how to build test banks and use technology in classroom/lab instruction.
  • Ability to teach using student‑centered learning environments in varied modalities.
