Job Description

The faculty member will conduct assignments and co‑curricular activities consistent with the philosophy and purpose of Aims Community College and the primary purpose is to teach.

Wages based on course content will range from $1,297.00 per credit to $3,753.00 per credit. In certain instances, due to low enrollment, faculty payment may be based on part‑time per credit pay and pro‑rated on a 10% per student basis. Part‑time employees also receive some benefits depending on the number of hours worked.

Job Duties
  • Teaching assignments may include a variety of courses depending on the candidate's area of expertise.
  • Facilitate classes covering the Autodesk suite of software (AutoCAD, Revit, Inventor, Civil 3D, AutoCAD Architecture, Navisworks, etc.).
  • Prepare and distribute syllabi on the first day of class, including course requirements, grading policy, testing assignments, absence policy, and other pertinent information.
  • Prepare, administer, and grade assignments and examinations in a timely manner to assess students and provide feedback for success.
  • Prepare and submit to the Chairperson all relevant data concerning students on a regular basis.
  • Follow proper procedures for requesting instructional supplies, expendable supplies, textbook requisitions, and absence reports in a timely manner.
  • Complete and document project requests/worksheets for all class projects and retain files for review and approvals by the Chairperson.
  • Coordinate and supervise teaching and lab activities, including cooperative education components, to plan and promote the most effective instructional program possible.
  • Use current technology to enhance institutional effectiveness, including but not limited to computers, computer‑assisted instruction programs, audio/visual equipment, and willingness to learn and apply new technology necessary to enhance learning.
  • Participate in assessment, implementation, and evaluation measures as required.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field plus 2,000 hours of industry experience including relevant software experience and a portfolio of project documentation, or
  • Associate degree in a relevant field plus 4,000 hours of industry experience including relevant software experience and a portfolio of project documentation, or
  • Software‑specific certification (e.g., Solid Works professional certification) plus a portfolio of project documentation and 4,000 hours of industry experience. Industry experience must be within the last 10 years; older experience may be considered if the candidate has been teaching continuously in the content area since that time.
  • Hold or qualify for a post‑secondary vocational credential in applicable related fields issued by Aims Community College CTE Office.
  • Knowledge of relevant CAD software.
