Job Relationships: Reports directly to the Behavior Manager and indirectly to the Directors of Operations. Supervises Foster & Transfer Coordinators and departmental volunteers. Working relationships include Behavior and Enrichment, Veterinary Services, Volunteer and Humane Education, Community Outreach, and other members of the Organization.
General
Purpose:
Supervises the Organization’s animal foster care and animal transfer programs; trains and supervises staff and volunteers in all aspects of the Foster & Transfer department. Coordinates, documents, implements, and continuously improves foster and transfer programs, procedures, and workflows. The position supervises four (4) or more staff members plus associated volunteers. This position supports our Transport Coordinators at Greeley Adoption Campus. This is a working supervisor position and includes performing the duties of direct reports routinely and in their absence.

This is a full-time, hourly position. Work schedules vary between 7:30am-7:30pm Monday-Friday and 7:30am-5:30pm Saturday-Sunday and are subject to change. Schedule will include a weekend shift and may include overnights, holidays, special events, and emergencies, as needed. This position is based at our Evans campus, but oversees staff at all campuses. This position will regularly work and travel to all of the Organization’s campuses, to other transfer partner organizations, offsite events, and to foster homes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Staff and Department Supervision
- Supervises Foster & Transfer Coordinators by assigning work, developing schedules, approving time off, ensuring adequate department coverage, and providing day-to-day leadership and support.
- Participates in recruitment, onboarding, coaching, performance management, employee development, recognition, and corrective action.
- Serves as the primary escalation point for foster and transfer-related operational questions and concerns.
- Maintains proficiency in all departmental functions and routinely performs frontline duties to support operations and provide coverage as needed.
- Recruits, trains, schedules, and supervises foster care and transfer volunteers to maintain an effective volunteer program.
- Maintains department supply inventories and coordinates ordering for all campuses.
- Develops, documents, implements, and monitors department protocols and standard operating procedures under the direction of the Behavior Manager, ensuring compliance with PACFA regulations and organizational standards.
- Collects and analyzes department data, prepares monthly reports, and monitors key performance indicators.
- Assists with annual budget planning and manages departmental expenditures within the approved budget.
- Serves as the Department Volunteer Supervisor (DVS) and participates in organization and volunteer program meetings as assigned.
Foster and Transfer Operations
- Provides day-to-day oversight of the Organization’s foster and transfer programs, ensuring timely placement, movement, and continuity of care for animals.
- Oversees foster operations, including foster appointments, home inspections, animal placement, monitoring animal health and behavior, and coordinating follow-up with veterinary, behavior, or operations staff as needed.
- Coordinates and, when necessary, performs animal transfers to and from placement partners and other facilities, including overnight and out-of-state transport.
- Routinely performs the duties of a Foster & Transfer Coordinator to support daily operations and provide staffing coverage.
- Safely handles, vaccinates, examines, medicates, and transports animals in accordance with organizational protocols.
- Participates in euthanasia decision-making and performs euthanasia as assigned.
- Operates Organization vehicles in support of foster, transfer, and other operational needs.
