The Kellogg Finance Department is looking for highly skilled and motivated individuals to work as full‑time Empirical Research Associates for a period of at least one year. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, with the first review slated for October 31, 2025. Research duties across all positions may include statistical analysis of large databases using Stata, MATLAB, Python, R, and other programming languages; design and execution of experiments; data scraping from websites and non‑traditional sources; literature reviews; and drafting results for presentations and publication. Qualified candidates should possess strong quantitative and programming skills and be able to work independently.
Empirical Corporate and Business HistoryFaculty sponsor:

This role focuses on the evolution of businesses and financial markets over the long run, covering topics such as financial and labor market inclusion, corporate governance, innovation, antitrust, and family enterprises. Research associates are expected to actively participate in project meetings and discussions.
Research duties include:
- Performing statistical analyses on large databases using Stata, Python, or R
- Utilizing OCR tools, data parsing, AI, and text analysis to create novel datasets (e.g., based on historical records)
- Writing up results for presentations and publications
- Conducting literature reviews
