Job Description

The Physical Therapist reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and other regulatory and accreditation standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care, teaching, and participate in appropriate committees and departmental process improvement.
  • Serve as a role model for all therapists and clinical interns in professional, clinical, communication, education, and leadership activities.
  • Demonstrate the four NM values—teamwork, patients first, integrity, and excellence—in daily work and interactions.
  • Present a friendly, approachable, professional demeanor and appearance.
  • Provide accurate and timely information to patients and customers, addressing questions and concerns promptly or directing them to the appropriate resources.
  • Use effective service‑recovery skills to solve problems or service breakdowns when they occur.
  • Maintain primary responsibility over patient plan of care through timely and consistent collaboration with treating PT/PTAs.
  • Demonstrate teamwork by helping co‑workers within and across departments and communicate effectively with others.
  • Use organizational and unit/department resources efficiently.
  • Manage work schedule efficiently, completing tasks and assignments on time.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement opportunities and processes.
  • Participate in efforts to reduce costs, streamline work processes, and improve service delivery.
  • Apply creative problem‑solving skills and adapt treatment to special circumstances, as evidenced by team feedback and documentation.
  • Select appropriate evaluation methods and treatment modalities, perform re‑evaluations per department guidelines, and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
  • Maintain primary responsibility over the course of physical therapist patient management, ensuring functional progress, safety, and treatment outcomes.
  • Adhere to department policy regarding evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries—documenting all notes in electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Complete daily notes that reflect patient response to treatment, actual performance, and assessment of status relevant to the treatment plan.
  • Provide educational materials and methods appropriate to the patient’s level of understanding and motivation.
  • Participate in committees, departmental processes, and special projects.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with healthcare team members and participate in internal and external marketing per department expectations.
  • Create a culture of respectful communication by listening, asking for team input, and acknowledging contributions.
  • Accept constructive feedback and make timely changes as evidenced by coaching forms and team feedback.
  • Complete non‑patient care responsibilities within established timelines (coverage notes, PTO/schedule change requests, bonus pay forms).
  • Contribute to departmental educational efforts (in‑services, journal clubs, new hire orientation).
  • Actively participate in student clinical or observation programs as a clinical instructor, mentor, or observation host.
  • Maintain productivity standards per department expectations.
  • Show willingness to flex schedule or assignment to meet patient care needs and attend staff meetings and departmental meetings outside normal work hours.
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy.
  • Licensed Physical Therapist in the State of Illinois.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association upon hire.
Preferred
  • Master’s or Doctoral Degree in Physical Therapy.
