Payroll Specialist

We’re looking for a Payroll Specialist who understands the complexity of multi-state payroll and is comfortable working in a client-focused environment where relationships are just as important as accuracy.

• Experience in payroll processing within a multi-state environment is required.
• Experience in a Managed Payroll Provider, HRIS, HCM, or PEO environment is preferred.

  3 days per week onsite in Evanston, IL (2 days remote)

• Full-Cycle Payroll – Handle the entire payroll process, from data collection through finalization.
• Multi-State Processing – Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local requirements while managing payroll across multiple states.
• Client Relationships – Interact with clients regularly, answering questions, solving problems, and building trust to help retain long‑term partnerships.
• Support & Problem-Solving – Respond to payroll inquiries promptly and professionally for both clients and their employees.
• Audit & Compliance – Run reports, maintain accurate records, and ensure adherence to regulations.
• System Use – Work within Paycor and other payroll tools to manage data, payments, and troubleshoot issues.

• Required: 3+ years of payroll processing experience, with hands‑on multi‑state payroll expertise.
• Preferred: Background in a Managed Payroll Provider, HRIS, HCM, or PEO environment.
• Knowledgeable: Solid understanding of payroll rules, compliance, and best practices.
• Client‑Focused: Strong communication skills and a commitment to excellent service.
• Detail‑Oriented: Ability to juggle multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
• Tech‑Savvy: Skilled with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and payroll systems, ideally Paycor.
