Rebuilding Exchange is driven to reuse building materials from donations, renovations, and historic materials locally sourced in the Midwest. From the careful removal of the non-structural elements of kitchens and bathrooms to entire houses, the organization understands materials and how to deconstruct and salvage them sustainably. Rebuilding Exchanges leverages this process to operate retail stores in Chicago and Evanston and provide workforce development training in the building trades to members of our community.
At a pivotal moment in its journey, Rebuilding Exchange is seeking a visionary, yet grounded Executive Director to guide the organization through a period of stabilization, team-building, and strategic growth. With a largely new professional team in place, the organization is poised to harness fresh energy — ready to be shaped, supported, and empowered by strong leadership.
Rebuilding Exchange seeks a leader with the ability to oversee complex operations including a retail business, drive fundraising success, develop internal talent, and engage effectively with a wide range of external partners.
Proven success in a senior leadership role within a nonprofit, social enterprise, or mission-driven organization is desired. The successful candidate brings business experience, through retail or social enterprise. They will have experience in building partnerships aligned with the enterprise to grow inventory and revenues.
The next leader will bring experience with a broad range of fundraising activities, including individual donor cultivation and government legislators and agencies. Continuing to build on existing donor relationships and growing them is required.

The compensation range for this position annually is between $145,000 – $160,000 and is commensurate with experience. Health insurance, retirement, PTO and other benefits are available.
