Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer
UL Research Institutes

UL Research Institutes (ULRI) and UL Standards & Engagement (ULSE), both 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) nonprofit organizations, seek an accomplished and strategic financial leader to serve as Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer. The CFO will be a collaborative, strategic, and diplomatic financial executive able to translate mission objectives into financial strategy and actionable business plans.

Responsibilities
  • Lead financial planning and analysis, accounting, financial and regulatory reporting, investment portfolio management, treasury, insurance, procurement, audit, and tax functions.
  • Serve as a strategic thought partner to the CEOs and Boards on major financial decisions and guide the annual budgeting process.
  • Build a sophisticated long‑range financial planning practice, providing data‑driven insights that support decision‑making and growth.
  • Guide major capital projects and develop strategies to steer long‑term capital strategy and investment.
  • Champion excellence across business processes, leveraging technology to improve effectiveness, efficiency, and analytical capacity across the organizations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with CEOs, Boards of Directors/Trustees, senior leaders across ULRI and ULSE, and manage a high‑performing team.
  • Maintain a mission‑driven focus, ensuring the CFO’s role supports and advances the organizations’ safety and research priorities.
Qualifications
  • Extensive experience as a C‑suite finance executive in a nonprofit or large research organization.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute financial strategy aligned with long‑term mission and growth goals.
  • Strong background in financial planning, budgeting, capital projects, and capital markets.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence and collaborate with senior stakeholders.
  • Experience building and leading high‑performance finance teams.
  • Commitment to a safer world and familiarity with safety science and standards preferred.
Pay Range

$/yr – $/yr (base salary; actual pay will be based on skills and experience)
