Overview
The Junior Fundraiser will be develops and implements fundraising strategies and initiatives; engaging Rotary Foundation volunteers and donors within the geographical area served by the RI Brazil Office. S/he provides counsel, helps train and manages zone, district and club level fundraising volunteers to ensure continued growth of the Annual Fund and other Rotary Foundation giving opportunities. S/he oversees the overall fundraising progress as it relates to the goals of The Rotary Foundation and ABTRF (local associate foundation), with emphasis on Annual Fund goals and priorities.
In addition to promoting the Foundation’s Annual Fund campaign (Every Rotarian, Every Year) they are also responsible for (1) helping develop and increase the use of automated/recurring giving; (2) increasing the number of donors and donors who give $1,000 or more annually to The Rotary Foundation (PHS) and (ABTRF – EC); (3) working to reduce the number of non-giving clubs;
(4) working with clubs with larger membership to ensure their annual participation is proportional; (5) increasing giving online; (6) proactively use various communication channels to encourage TRF contributions; (7) assist with launching and/or growing the “Raise for Rotary” peer-to-peer platform.
- Bachelor;s degree;
Advanced degree preferred - Successful prior development experience strongly preferred, including cultivation and solicitation of donors or comparable job experience
- Experience with public speaking in front of small and large audiences
- Computer literacy and experience with Windows and fundraising databases
- Experience using Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge software preferred
- Advanced knowledge of MS-Excel.
- Experience using Adestra email software or similar software for mass email communications
- Advanced organizational abilities
- Initiative to be a self-starter who is goal-oriented
- Strong inter-personal skills and a professional demeanor, with strong commitment to customer service
- Personal and professional integrity, particularly with regard to responsibly handling donors’ personal information
- Fluency in English and Portugues
- Persuasive communications, both oral and written
- Supporting and collaborating with volunteer leaders, executive management and high level donors and board members
- Juggling multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritizing workload in a timely fashion

Developing fundraising strategies and resources
- Coordinates and implements Annual Fund fundraising strategies to increase donor acquisition, adoption of automated/recurring giving, and milestone giving to the Annual Fund and other funding priorities in an assigned geographic territory;
- Prepares and disseminates resources and trainings on fundraising best practices to help regional volunteer leadership identify and effectively cultivate major gift prospects;
- Tracks participation rates and milestone giving (Sustaining Members, Paul Harris Society, etc.). Encourages donors to upgrade to the next level of giving;
- Collaborates with major and planned giving staff to encourage donors to upgrade giving levels;
- Maintains frequent communications primarily with zone and district leadership including: fundraising progress reports, appeal letters and targeted e-mails, marketing strategies, motivational messages, and individual donor correspondence;
- Contributes to development of new and creative strategies and emerging tools to maximize giving in the area covered by the RIBO.
- May maintain a small portfolio of major gift or bequest prospects primarily with a giving capacity between USD $5,000-$25,000, including but not limited to district and zone leaders;
- Works in partnership with colleagues in RIBO and Evanston to identify and qualify major gift prospects ($5,000 – $25,000), coordinate cultivation and solicitation strategies and provide exceptional stewardship;
- Gathers, records, and properly stores appropriate meeting, phone call and solicitation actions, prospect rating and screening, and other noteworthy activity utilizing Raiser’s Edge;
- Plans and executes travel to promote and cultivate Foundation giving to district/regional leaders and/or to support various Rotary Foundation training opportunities such as PETS, GETS, Zone Institutes and so on.
- Other duties may include, but are not limited to, working with volunteer leaders on inquiries, leading department meetings, working on special projects, and testing system updates.
