Assistant Director, Donor Relations – Donor Recognition and Stewardship (Hybrid)

Location: Evanston, Illinois

Department: Alumni Relations & Development

Salary/Grade: EXS/6 (Target range $60,000-$64,000 per year)

Assistant Director manages stewardship projects for principal gift donors, creating, maintaining, and tracking donor recognition, and delivering customized outreach on behalf of university leaders.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Tracks progress of stewardship strategies for principal gift donors and executes touchpoints on behalf of university leaders.
  • Maintains and monitors individual stewardship plans to ensure donors are stewarded in a timely manner.
  • Works with vendors to secure donor recognition items and maintain inventory.
  • Collaborates with internal partners and university partners to implement and expand relationships to accomplish strategic goals.
  • Works with development staff to implement donor strategies that maximize fundraising dollars and donor participation.
  • Completes standard stewardship correspondence including holiday cards, plaques, signage, and gift notes.
  • Manages parts of the donor relations process providing stewardship to individuals or groups of donors.
  • Recommends changes and improvements to maximize efficient use of budget.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • 2 years development, marketing, sales, or equivalent experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Strong collaboration and strategic thinking skills.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • 2 years experience in fundraising, communications, or nonprofit operations.
