Specialty Team Member (Beer, Wine, Cheese & Chocolate) - Full Time

Join the specialty team at Whole Foods Market. In this role you will receive support as a member of the Specialty team, including preparing and selling product, maintaining displays, and providing courteous and efficient customer service. All positions must comply with store Standard Operating Procedures, health and safety regulations, and WFM core values.

Base pay range
: $17.00/hr - $25.40/hr

• Surprise and delight customers with consistent, delicious food.
• Engage in positive and proactive selling.
• Ensure a fresh and appealing display by keeping cases and shelves clean and well-stocked.
• Check product to verify it meets WFM quality standards.
• Monitor spoilage and supply waste to minimize impact on department expenses.
• Assist with sampling program, keeping sample areas full, clean and appealing.
• Maintain back stock in good order.
• Access information about market conditions and communicate it to customers.
• Arrive to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work; work all scheduled shifts and attend required trainings and meetings.
• Provide excellent customer service, address customer needs in a timely and effective manner, model suggestive selling techniques, and answer phones and pages promptly and courteously.
• Maximize sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product.
• Follow and comply with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment; maintain equipment in accordance with WFM cleanliness and safety standards.
• Perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned; ensure accuracy of signs and pricing.
• Immediately report safety hazards and violations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by store, regional, or national leadership.

• Ability to learn basic knowledge of all products carried in department.
• Ability to visually examine products for quality and freshness.
• Ability to sell proactively.
• Working understanding of Specialty department and team and WFM quality goals.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team.
• Ability to deliver information clearly and respectfully to fellow Team Members, customers, and vendors.
• Ability to meet customer service expectations and standards in all interactions.
• Ability to follow directions and procedures; effective time management and organization skills.

• No prior retail experience required.

• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• In an 8‑hour work day: standing/walking 6‑8 hours.
• Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling.
• Work requires bending, twisting, squatting and reaching.
• Exposure to FDA‑approved cleaning chemicals.
• Exposure to temperatures: 90°F.
• Ability to work in a wet and cold environment.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Ability to use tools and equipment, including box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.
• TIPS course completion required for all alcohol‑serving positions; age 18 or older.

Wage range for this position is $17.00‑$25.40 hourly. Whole Foods Market offers a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and other programs. Eligibility is determined under the terms of applicable plans at hire date.
