Mather is seeking an experienced and passionate Fitness & Wellness Services Manager to lead the evolution of wellness in luxury senior living. For more than 80 years, Mather has been redefining what senior living can be—combining exceptional hospitality with cutting‑edge wellness programs that inspire vitality and purpose. As the premier wellness destination for older adults, Mather sets the standard for holistic well‑being, integrating fitness, mind‑body practices, and lifestyle experiences that empower individuals to thrive.
This hybrid, full‑time role combines strategic vision with hands‑on execution, bringing Mather’s signature Person‑Centric Wellness Model to life across our communities. Leveraging expertise in fitness and program leadership, this position will guide on‑site teams, introduce innovative pilot programs, and create engaging experiences that enhance strength, mobility, and overall well‑being. The role includes regular in‑person collaboration at Mather’s headquarters in Evanston, Illinois, and in‑person support at our premier wellness destinations in Illinois, Arizona, and Virginia.
Frequent travel and in‑person engagement are key to delivering exceptional wellness experiences and advancing Mather’s forward‑thinking approach.
- Program Leadership & Innovation
- Drive implementation of Mather’s Person‑Centric Wellness Model across communities, ensuring programs reflect autonomy, affiliation, and achievement.
- Lead development and rollout of innovative fitness and wellness programs, including strength training, mobility, functional movement, and recovery practices.
- Launch and evaluate pilot programs, gather feedback, and scale successful initiatives.
- On‑Site Team Support & Training
- Mentor and coach community fitness teams, ensuring program excellence and alignment with Mather’s wellness vision.
- Conduct site visits and virtual check‑ins to provide training, share best practices, and support onboarding and continuing education.
- Team Member Wellness & Engagement
- Collaborate with leadership to design and deliver team member wellness programs, including fitness challenges and experiential offerings.
- Data, Quality & Collaboration
- Track engagement and outcomes, analyze program success, and contribute to reports demonstrating measurable impact.
- Partner with culinary, spa, lifestyle, and health services teams to create interdisciplinary wellness experiences.
- Thought Leadership
- Stay current on fitness and holistic wellness trends, recommending enhancements that advance Mather’s leadership in residential wellness.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Wellness Management, or related field.
- Nationally recognized fitness certification (ACE, NASM, ACSM, NSCA) required.
- 5+ years of experience in fitness or wellness program management, preferably in multi‑site or similar settings.
- Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to travel 40‑50%.
Preferred:
- Mind‑body specialization/certifications (RYT‑200/500, Pilates, Breathwork, Mindfulness).
- Experience implementing resident and employee wellness programs.

The salary range for this position is a good faith estimate of the range Mather reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of the posting. The actual wage paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to specific skills or certifications, years of experience, geographic location and market changes. Holiday bonus eligibility, where applicable.
The position is also eligible to participate in Mather benefit plans.
Salary Pay Range: $76,500 USD – $84,000 USD
