Mechanical Technician

The Mechanical Technician position refines products executing Operations & Logistics for Marathon Pipe Line. The successful candidate will perform such duties as: repairing and maintaining API 6D valves, centrifugal pumps, positive displacement pumps, tank equipment and meters. The candidate should have the ability to troubleshoot problems and work independently while collaborating with a team. All duties will be completed in accordance with all regulations in support of DOT, Environmental, Safety, and Regulatory compliance.

Travel, callouts, and overtime will be required on an as-needed basis.

The successful candidate will be required to live within 45 minutes of the reporting location of Evanston, WY.

• Perform routine maintenance activities including but not limited to the following tasks:
• Vibrating monitoring and analysis
• Inspect, install, and maintain major / minor relief valves
• Complex pump alignment
• Lubricant changes
• Install / repair stainless steel tubing
• DOT mainline inspections
• Flange bolting and assembly
• Valve actuator maintenance
• Maintaining bi-directional provers

• Coordinate and communicate maintenance activities.
• Respond to breakdown and field callouts as part of rotational on‑call support.
• Generate computerized work requests for maintenance tasks.
• Perform work in a safe and environmentally conscious manner in accordance with all Environmental, Safety and Regulatory requirements.

• High School diploma or GED equivalent is preferred.
• Associate’s degree in a related technical field is preferred but not required.
• Proficiency in basic computer skills.
• Previous pipeline experience is highly preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Must be able to pass a general background check as well as a Motor Vehicle Background check.
• Must be able to pass a DOT Physical Exam.
