Essential Functions
  • Prepare, dispense, and compound medications in line with policy and regulatory guidelines.
  • Validate and verify prescriber orders for accuracy, dose, route, frequency, duration, indication, and potential contraindications. Monitor for allergies, drug‑drug/food/disease interactions, adverse reactions, and appropriate utilization.
  • Review patient medication profiles, consult with medical/nursing staff, and provide guidance on optimizing therapy.
  • Maintain required records for controlled substances and oversee inventory, purchasing, and quality control of medications.
  • Serve as a resource to healthcare professionals, pharmacy students, and state programs, providing clinical expertise and consultation as needed.
  • Support program development and the work of the Department of Health’s Office of Pharmacy Services to ensure the best use of resources.
  • Participate in drug effectiveness reviews and evaluate clinical evidence to support safe, cost‑effective prescribing.
  • Provide information and education to state agencies, legislators, and public/private groups regarding pharmacy issues.
  • Ensure all pharmaceutical care meets standards for safety, effectiveness, patient rights, and customer service.
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of principles, concepts, and practices of pharmacy.
  • Knowledge of the basic premises of medical practice, pharmacology, and toxicology.
  • Knowledge of Wyoming and federal laws that apply to the practice of pharmacy.
  • Knowledge of computer systems (Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of personnel policies and rules.
Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree (typically in Pharmacy)

Experience: 1-3 years of progressive work experience (typically in Pharmacy)

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Licensure or eligible for licensure as a Pharmacist in the State of Wyoming

Physical Working Conditions
  • Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, driving an automobile, etc.
  • Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
