The Wyoming State Hospital is seeking a leadership-driven Registered Nurse to join our team as a Shift Supervisor
. This pivotal role provides clinical oversight, administrative guidance, and mentorship to nursing staff during assigned shifts. As the Shift Supervisor, you will serve as a primary resource for clinical decision‑making, ensuring patients receive high‑quality, compassionate care while fostering a collaborative environment for nursing professionals.
This position is eligible for a $2,000 hiring bonus.

- Assist with the development of policy and procedures for implementing specific programs; orient new staff to the programs, policies, and procedures.
- Contribute to the development of nursing protocols to provide clinical care and teaching materials for groups and individuals.
- Provide guidance and oversight regarding nursing functions as programs are developed and implemented.
- Mentor and advise staff nurses toward program outcomes.
- Serve as a resource for personnel in developing and delivering programs/services including clinical nursing care, contact investigation, community outreach initiatives, and health education/promotional messages.
- Oversee nursing staff and schedules after hours (1900‑0730).
- Contribute to Quality Assurance by collecting and compiling department CQI data.
- Perform nursing assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of ill and disabled persons.
- Arrange and conduct nursing clinics and classes.
- Principles of nursing and management processes.
- Medical diagnosis and treatment of patient care using nursing diagnosis.
- Organization, planning, and team building.
- Principles and practices of public health nursing.
- Human service management including supervisory techniques, methods, and standards.
- Education: Associate’s Degree in Nursing (or equivalent).
- Experience: 1–2 years of progressive nursing work experience with acquired knowledge at the level of a nurse.
- Credentials: Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Wyoming.
- Alternative: 4–6 years of progressive nursing experience; same credential requirement.
- Lift medical/patient equipment up to about 50 lbs.
- Restrain clients for treatments.
- Work evenings, nights, and/or weekends when required.
- FLSA:
Non‑Exempt. - Background checks and drug testing procedures apply.
